Ronald Oliver “Ron” Tidwell

Ronald Oliver “Ron” Tidwell died Saturday, August 3rd at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.  His wife, son and several close friends were in attendance.

Ron was predeceased by his mother, Lorine Wallace; his father, Oliver Tidwell; his son, Frank Tidwell; and his son-in-law, Joe Russell, Jr.

Ron leaves his wife and best friend, Fay Palmertree Tidwell; step son, Juston Palmertree Russell; cousin, Mickie Sisemore; granddaughters, Samantha Underwood, Leslie Logan, and three great grandsons. He also leaves behind many close friends and one young man whom he considered a grandson, Wyatt Jones.

After high school, in 1962, Ron joined the Army and served in Korea, where he was listed as an Expert Rifle (M-1). Upon returning home from Korea, he enrolled and graduated from the University of Montevallo.  His class was the first to graduate from the University of Montevallo as a co-ed college. He retired from Alabama State Revenue commission in 1994. Ron was a life-long democrat. Those who knew Ron will always remember that he was quick with a joke, a great neighbor and friend who did not vote for Donald Trump.

Interment for Ron Tidwell will be held at The Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama this Friday, August 9th at 10:15 in the morning.  Family and close friends will gather at the home of Brad and Anita Williams following the service.  Charter Funeral Home entrusted.
