Robert Clifton Lee

September 14, 2025 – August 15, 1929

Robert Clifton Lee, 96, of Birmingham, Alabama happily transitioned to Glory on September 14, 2025.

Born during the Great Depression, he witnessed a world of change during his lifetime.  After graduating from Hanceville High School, Robert enlisted in the Navy and served at Honolulu, HI.  He later married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Fannin, and the two raised three children, Robert “Keith” Lee, Brian Lee, and Beth (Lee) Clark, all eventual Auburn University graduates.  Robert was a huge fan of baseball and exceled at the catcher position during and after high school including playing for the Navy baseball team in Honolulu.  Robert retired decades ago after 39 years of dedicated service with Alabama Power Company.  He often truthfully kidded that he was retired for a longer period than he worked.

Robert recently commented that he and Barbara paid for all 3 of their children to attend and graduate from college.  He stated that they missed out on numerous vacations in doing so, but he would not trade that experience and sacrifice for anything.

Predeceasing Robert are his parents, Ambers Lee and Myrtle (Jones) Lee, his dear wife Barbara, his brothers, Howard Lee and Billy Lee, his sisters, Pauline (Lee) Stockley, Margaret (Lee) Taylor, and Inez Lee, and his daughter, Beth.

Robert is survived by his two sons, Keith and Brian, 5 grandchildren, Bobby Lee, Hunter Lee, Erin (Lee) Lee-Halfen, Ashley (Clark) Farris and Abby (Clark) Loggins, 3 great grandchildren, Hannah Farris, Dorothy Farris, and Hudson Loggins, a niece, Bobbie (Taylor) Tackett, and a nephew, Charles Lee.

After the passing of his dear wife of over 60+ years of marriage, Robert fell in love with the only surviving member of his high school graduating class, Mary Jo York, who resides in Cullman, AL.

Robert remained youthful in appearance, passing without a single wrinkle on his face at age 96.

A graveside military service is scheduled for close friends and family at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 12:30 pm.

My Uncle Robert was such a wise and wonderful man. He and my Aunt Barbara were very special to me and I feel privileged to have known them.
I am confident that they are now together enjoying their rest and reward.
