Betty Smith Gilbert
Betty Smith Gilbert, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Florida on October 27, 1933, to her parents, Alonzo and Louise Smith, both have preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Hiram Gregory Gilbery (Kathy), Nathan Earl Gilbert (Kimberly) and Paul Fredrick Gilber (Rhonda); 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
A Graveside service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, in Southern Heritage Cemetery at 2 pm. Charter Funeral Home will be handling services
I’m so honored to have been called Ms Betty’s best friend! We immediately bonded eight years ago, when I began volunteering there. We shared so many laughs and precious moments. Some of the best times were spent on outings to shop and have lunch, just the two of us. Other times we just laughed and talked over her lunchtime at Aspire. We shared a love for skin care and even injections. 😂. Most of all we shared a love for our sons. A bond that one boy moms can understand. I will always cherish our friendship and I look forward to seeing her again, when we meet in heaven. Nathan, Greg and Paul, thanks for sharing your precious mom with me.
