Mary Monte` Thrower

Services for Mary Monte Thrower, 83, of Calera will be 4pm Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Charter Funeral Home in Calera, AL with Rev. Lee Martinez officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3pm – 4pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Thrower passed peacefully in her sleep Monday morning in Calera.
Survivors include her sons Bryan Thrower (Jessica) of Calera, AL.; a son David Thrower; a daughter, Darlene Thrower Fitzpatrick of Georgia; granddaughter Tasha Thrower; grandsons Jackson Thrower and Jon Mark Thrower; granddaughter, Bethany Thrower of Calera, AL. Also cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband “Jim,” TSgt James Junior Thrower (Retired USAF) who was a native of Blount County; parents, James Henry Monte and Florence Olivia Wilson, three brothers, Paul Monte, Jack Monte, and David Monte; one sister Jean (Monte) Denka, of Maryland.
Mary Frances Monte was born to James Henry Monte and Florence Olivia Wilson in Takoma Park, Maryland. Mrs. Thrower, had lived in Calhoun County since 1973 until she re-located to Calera, AL in 2015 for quality time being “Granny!” Mary met “Jim” when he was stationed at Andrews Air Force base. Mary worked as a secretary for the government for a time. Throughout Jim’s 20 year Air Force career Mary too served our country through re-locating as orders came in from Japan to Oklahoma and other places in between. Mary was a member of Oak Bowery Church in Ohatchee, AL. Mary also worshipped at Church of the Highlands in Alabaster, AL. Mary enjoyed a variety of hobbies and experiences which range from time with her grandchildren, travel to the beach, as well as puzzles, crochet, reading, and movies.

So sorry for your lost aunt Mary was a wonderful person she will be truly missed sending prayers for family and friends love you all

I was very sad to here aunt marys passing.I always enjoyed being around her,she had a great sense of humor,and a infectious laugh.I was and am close to daughter especialy.I will miss not being able to see her.She will not be forgoton. My deepest sympathy to her family.
