John Thomas Ballard

John Thomas Ballard, passed away Sunday, Nov 26, 2017. He was born Aug 16, 1937, to May Noah Ballard and Bessie Margreet Foster in Yazoo City, Mississippi. He graduated high school in 1958 at Loyd Star High School, Brookhaven, Mississippi and was in the Mississippi National Guard for 6 years.  He was preceded in death by both parents and 2 brothers, 1 sister, 1 daughter, and 2 grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Donna O’Connor Ballard; sister, Sandra Ballard Williams (Maxie); brothers, James Owen (Alice), Bobby Ray (Jean), Billie Joe (Shirley), Robert Lee (Betty); daughter Rita Fay (Fiancée Roy Wayson); sons, John Markus (Cindy), Raymond Earl (Larana), Timothy Ray and Cameron Dale ( Jennifer); 20 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren, and various nieces and nephews. John was retired from Birmingham Good Sam’s Camp ground where he was a maintenance man for almost 15 years.  Prior to that he owned his own construction business. The family will receive guests at Mars Hill Church, 4301 County Road 42; Jemison, Alabama 35085 on Saturday, December 2nd, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
