Jamie Leigh (Schmidt) Simpson

Jamie Leigh (Schmidt) Simpson of Calera, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, October 23rd, 2025 at age 49.

Jamie is survived by her husband, Michael Simpson; son, Isaac Simpson; mother, Diane Schmidt; sister, Alana Hulsman (Justin); her adored nephews, Hunter Simpson, Jack Gamble, Bentley Simpson, and Everett Hulsman. Her wonderful extended family and long list of friends were always in her heart.

To those who would consider her a second mom, a friend, or family, everyone who knew her would say the same: she was a spark of joy, always profoundly encouraging, and deeply caring. Her sharp wit would cut through any situation to bring a smile and laughter. Jamie danced through life with an unceasing rhythm. She was lightning trapped in human form. Jamie will be loved and remembered as one of those singular people that positively affected so many others’ lives.

The family will hold a private memorial and celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. In addition, she felt strongly about organ donation. Please consider becoming a donor.
