James “Jimmy” Allen Lovelady

James “Jimmy” Allen Lovelady, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born to Harold and Janie Lovelady, Jimmy lived a wonderful and wild life, full of love, laughter, and adventure. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Linda Kay Lovelady; his brother, Richard “Ricky” Lovelady; his son, Maurice “Maury” Lovelady; and his grandson, Jonathan Lovelady.

Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Janice Lovelady; his children, Charles Houston Lovelady (wife, Michelle) and Christa Leigh Yelverton (husband, Tyler); and his cherished grandchildren, Hayden James Lovelady, Kaley Brooke Stevens (husband, Ethan) Alexis Kamryn Jones, Peyton Gale Lovelady, and Barrett James Yelverton and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was a man of many passions—he loved fishing, shooting, cars, NASCAR, football, and above all, his family. Known as a friend to all who crossed his path, Jimmy never met a stranger and always left people smiling. He dedicated more than 20 years of service to Wiley Sanders Trucking as the terminal manager and spent the years prior in the trucking industry with Matlack and Poole.

A memorial service honoring Jimmy’s life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Charter Funeral Home in Calera, Alabama.

They broke the mold when they made Jimmy, and he will be truly missed.

Janice, I am so sorry for your loss. You and Jimmy shared a love that goes back a long time ago. I pray you will find peace and comfort through your memories, as well as by the legacy passed on through your children and grandchildren.

Im so sorry for your loss but I was told this when my Jimmy died that he is with Jesus and he has done his duty here on earth! I loved Jimmy because he was a special person! I was terrified of him when I first met him but he soon showed his soft side and accepted me as a “yankee”! Jimmy you will be greatly missed by everyone.! RIP TARINA.
