Helen F. Cobb “Frances”

Helen F. Cobb “Frances” was born December 6, 1933, in Jefferson County, Alabama to Clara and Fred Sellers. As the youngest of three girls, she spent her time as a child riding her horse on Shades Mountain, taking the bus to Birmingham to watch movies downtown with friends and caring for her family’s household from a young age. At 16, she met Billy Cobb, whom she declared to be the love of her life, and married him at the age of 17, just as he joined the Navy for service during the Korean War. Together they raised three children, enjoyed traveling, camping, craft festivals, gardening, and even ran a local Christmas tree farm in their retirement.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Clara Sellers; her sisters, Edith Lohtock and Dorothy Roberts; her son, William Allison Cobb; and her loving husband, William A. Cobb Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Templin (Bobby), Rebecca Bush (Scott); grandchildren, David Templin, Alison Petruska (Andrew), Hannah Pryor, Kyle Pryor, Alaina Pryor, Andrew Bush, and Shelby Pilgrim (Henry); and two great grandchildren, Jacob and Henry Petruska.

Frances was an incredibly strong and loving person, an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother, a generous neighbor, and a loyal friend. She will be greatly missed by all.

Frances will be laid to rest beside her husband in Nabors Cemetery on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 2:30 pm. Dr. Scott Bush will be officiating.
