Gary Lynn Davidson

DavidsonGary Lynn Davidson, March 14, 1952-September 3, 2015 born in McKinney, Texas. Gary was born to Pauline (French) and Roger Davidson, both whom preceded him in death. He was the third of their four children. We thank God mightily for giving him life and for our time with him. He is preceded in passing by his brothers, Roger Don Davidson and Timothy Wayne Davidson. After serving as a Lt. Corporal in the US Marine Corps, Gary found his great love in Linda Ellison Davidson, his wife of 37 years, who survives him. In the late 1970s, Gary took a job in the Gulf of Mexico for Transco, in natural gas excavation and pipeline operation. He enjoyed a career in the field for almost 30 years. He lived in either Texas or Alabama most of his life and was proud to have been born a Texan. He had many interests but listening to music and making people laugh were his favorites. He is also survived by his dear sister Pam Scaff of Gulf Shores and by his step-father Doug French (Betty) of Alexander City. His loving children are daughters Shannon Gay (Carl), Carma Burke (Sean), Scarlet Suttles (David), and son Roger Davidson. Also surviving are adored nieces Kendra Godbold (Derek) and Jennifer Smith. Pop Pop’s grandchildren: Corey and Cameron Pouncey (Chelsie Lynn), Rylan Davis, Roland and Ayla Burke, and Vivien and Olivia Suttles. And great-grandchild Camden Pouncey. Gary also leaves in this world too many special relatives and close friends to name. He rarely missed the opportunity to tell a joke and we will all think of him with a smile (and a giggle) until we meet again. He will be interred at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on September 25, at 2:45 p.m. A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, September 26 in Alabaster.
