Elizabeth Ann Skelton

Elizabeth Ann Skelton, age 63 of Sterrett, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022. Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Randy Skelton; daughter, Sandy Rollins (Joshua); sisters, Mary Pierce, and Jackie Griffin (Scott); and brother, Robert Gables. Services for Elizabeth will be Monday, January 9, 2023, with a gathering at 5:00 p.m. and a Celebration of Life to follow at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Brook Lovett will be officiating service.

    On May 20 2021, Liz was sick with her stomach. She sent me a picture that said “Give it to God and go to sleep”. It was an opening for me to tell her the following:
    “That’s real pretty. You have it displayed in very good taste. That is hard to do sometimes, we have to do though.
    The best time happens (giving it to God) when we get saved. When we believe that Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again. Then we call on Jesus to save us and receive him as our Saviour. We we are giving the salvation of our souls to Jesus then and we stop thinking that we can do anything to save ourselves. We just rest totally on the saviour because he did all the work necessary to save us.

    We text a few more messages and Liz wrote: “We all should believe that. I certainly do.
    I have asked him to please come into my life, save me, and never leave me. I need him to walk beside me. Show me the way when I feel lost. He is my savior.

    I ask her if she asked Jesus to save her on this day. She said yes. We both rejoiced together.
    I told her to write this day in her Bible. I know she had her grandmothers Bible which she cherished.
    Hope these words will be a comfort to our family to know that she is with Jesus today.
