Catherine R. Francis

Catherine Ruth Francis was born to Mable R. Long York and Hugh C. York of Thomasville, Georgia on January 24, 1958. Cathy graduated from Thomasville High School and was a majorette in the marching band. She married Hugh Francis at the Thomasville First Methodist church in 1980.
Cathy loved her family. She loved her husband and children as well as her other relatives across South Georgia. The family reunions, Thanksgiving, and Christmas were her favorites.
Cathy loved sports. She especially loved high school and college football. After getting married she adopted Auburn as her college team. She loved to watch football including the halftime shows, baseball, and women’s softball.
Cathy lived in several cities in Georgia and finally ended up in Alabama. Cathy and her family lived in Macon, Gray, Albany, and Newnan Georgia. The final move was to Alabaster, Alabama in 2003. Cathy worked as a preschool teacher before retiring to spend time with her children and their families.
Cathy is preceded by her father, Hugh C. York. She is survived by her husband, Hugh; her mother, Mable Long York; brothers, Hugh and Tommy; children, Holly McCormick (Waverly Hall, GA), Allan Francis (Birmingham, AL), Lara Bunting (Alabaster, AL), and 5 grandchildren.
Mrs. Cathy’s visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of her service at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Alabaster, with Rev. Clay Farrington officiating. Burial with follow in the Montevallo City Cemetery. Charter Funeral Home in Calera handling her arrangements
