Betty Moore Arledge

Betty Moore Arledge passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023.  She was born on November 28, 1932 to Clyde and Irene Moore.  She met and married Joe Arledge at a young age and moved to the Montevallo area to raise two boys.  She attended the University of Montevallo and achieved her teaching degree in Mathematics and began teaching at several schools. Betty is fondly remembered by many of her students that shared her willingness to help them learn.  Betty taught at Greenwood, Chelsea, Shelby Academy, and Coosa Valley.  When she retired from being a teacher, she and Joe opened an antique shop that was an area favorite.

She is survived by her son, Steve (Mary), Grandchildren, Kimberly Fridy (Matt), Bryan Arledge (Jamie), Ginny Williamson (Matt), Daniel Arledge (Rachael).  Her Great-Grandchildren, Joey Arledge, Zac Arledge, Jack Fridy, Beth Fridy, Cate Fridy, Peter Arledge, Tim Arledge, Emmy Fridy, Carrie Mae Fridy, Ethan Shanks, Caroline Williamson, Drew Williamson, Gideon Arledge, Kenedi Arledge.

She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph M. Arledge, son, Tommy Arledge, her parents, sisters: Dorothy Evans, Faye Vincent, Joyce Horton, her brother: Howard Moore.

Services will be Thursday, September 14th at Spring Creek C.P. Church in Montevallo.  Visitation at 1:00pm with service following at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Moore’s Cemetery in Montevallo, AL

Pall bearers will be Bryan Arledge, Daniel Arledge, Matthew Fridy, Joey Arledge, Zac Arledge, and Jack Fridy.

    So sorry to hear about Mrs. Arlesge passing. She was such a sweet woman and great teacher. Please know you are all in our prayers.

    I was so saddened to hear of Betty’s passing.
    I have so many wonderful memories of spending time with your family during the summers.
