Richard Lee Sidney Smith
Richard Lee Sidney Smith, age 60 passed away peacefully on Monday May 22, 2023 at The Birmingham Veterans Medical Center, Safe Harbor Unit.
He was born on March 11, 1963, in Santa Maria, California to Harold and Patricia Smith. He graduated from Jemison High School. He joined The Navy and proudly served on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Aircraft Carrier as a flight deck crew member. Later he worked for the Fire Department in Santa Maria, prior to moving back to Montevallo, Al. He finished his career as a Cardiac Telemetry Tech at Shelby Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his siblings, Skip Smith (Montevallo), Julie (Reggie) Gabriel (Memphis) and Karen (Dean) Mayhew (Montevallo). 4 Nephews, 2 Great Nieces, 3 Great Nephews and his beloved dog Birdie.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Wednesday, June 14th at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Bethel
(10042 Collins Chapel Road Thorsby, Al 35171). A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Alabama National Cemetery (3133 Hwy 119 Montevallo, AL 35115).
