Oline Henry Barnett

Oline Barnett was born on March 5, 1938, in Jemison, Alabama to Charlie and Sally Henry. She graduated high school in 1957 from Jemison High School. Out of high school, Mrs. Barnett started working as a switchboard operator with Bell South in Birmingham, Alabama.  She later followed the love of her life, Sonny Barnett, to central Florida where he was stationed with the United States Air Force. The young couple soon found their way back to Alabama and built a life together. Two children, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren are the legacy left behind by Oline Barnett.

Oline Barnett also lived a life of service to others in the Calera community. She was a lifelong member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Calera, AL. She held many duties over the years at Shiloh Methodist. She was a Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, and was instrumental in helping arrange Christmas for foster children in Chilton County. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Sonny Barnett. Her father and mother, Charlie and Sally Henry. Her sister Irene Henry. Her daughter-in-law Becky Barnett.

She is survived by her son James Michael and daughter Sandra Lynne (Steve Roberson). She has two grandchildren, Jason Roberson (Crystal) and Jamie Benson (Matt), and five great-grandchildren Jagger, Hannah, Amelia, Lily, and Aliyah. One brother-in-law, Dean Winterbottom (Sara). Many nieces and nephews. 

Oline’s visitation will be held at Grace Community Chapel (1365 8th Ave Calera, AL 35040), on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 2 p.m. She will lie in-state one hour prior to the service with Rev. Steve Roberson and Rev. Matt Benson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rocky Mount Cemetery in Jemison. Charter Funeral Home in Calera is handling her arrangements.
