Farlin Elaine Masa

Farlin Elaine Masa (Heltzel), age 76, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, in Alabaster, Alabama.
Born on June 21, 1949, in Vinita, Oklahoma, Farlin grew up with a deep love for learning and a passion for the sciences. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State—an impressive accomplishment that reflected both her intellectual curiosity and determination.
Farlin shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Geza. Together they built a life centered around faith and family. She was a devoted mother to her sons and their wives, Michael & Tiffani and Stephen & Ashley, and a proud grandmother to Carlie, Cale, and Mariska. Her sisters, Phyllis Jordan and Debbie Crawford, also remain to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lucille Heltzel, and her sister, Carla Heltzel.
A woman of many talents and endless joy, Farlin was a gifted seamstress who lovingly sewed clothes and keepsakes for her children and grandchildren. Her creativity extended into music—she played the autoharp with grace, sang joyfully in the choir, and rang handbells with enthusiasm.
Farlin’s love for math and chemistry were apparent; she found ways to share that enthusiasm through teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at her church. Her lessons were often infused with scientific wonder—a reflection of how seamlessly she blended intellect with faith. A devout Christian throughout her life, Farlin cherished her church families deeply.
Her personality was as vibrant as it was unique. Known for her infectious smile and boisterous laugh, Farlin brought light into every room she entered. She had a special fondness for science fiction and fantasy stories—both on screen and in books—which delighted those who shared in those adventures with her.
Baking alongside loved ones was another of Farlin’s favorite pastimes. Whether preparing holiday treats like her famous pumpkin pie or simply enjoying time together in the kitchen, these moments became treasured memories for all involved.
Farlin’s unwavering faith guided every decision she made. Her legacy is one of joy, generosity, intellect, creativity, and deep spiritual conviction.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Farlin’s name to the American Heart Association at heart.org.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held on September 12, 2025, at 03:00 PM at Grace Christian Church, 869 Highway 52, Helena, Alabama.

Given the distance between USA and Italy, family meetings with my beloved aunt Farlin have not been so frequent but I still carry very vivid memories of a beautiful person and a very curious personality. She will be missed. A huge hug to Geza, Michael and Stephen.
