Claudine (Judy) Morris Barclay

Claudine (Judy) Morris Barclay was born April 3, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida and passed peacefully from this world on July 21, 2023, surrounded by her family. By the age of seven her family had settled in Birmingham in the Glen Iris neighborhood where, as Claudine, she made many lifelong friendships. She graduated from Ramsay High School in 1966 and headed for Auburn University. After marrying Henry Barclay, III on June 21, 1968, the couple headed for The University of Alabama and Judy graduated with a degree in elementary education.

Judy committed her life to her Savior Jesus Christ in 1972. Her life was an expression of her deep desire to be more like Him daily. Judy was always a teacher and advocate. After working as Executive Director for the Partners in Policymaking in Alabama and serving the Alabama State Board of Education in a transition grant. Judy and Jan Cobb primarily authored “Full Life Ahead, a Workbook and Guide to Adult Life,” in order to serve families and individuals with disabilities. The Full Life Ahead Foundation was formed in 2002. Through it she became a passionate advocate for the individual success of many individuals with disabilities and their families. She helped build community around the God given passions and talents of some amazing people. She persevered with them and beamed with each new milestone.

Judy was predeceased by her daughter Claudine Judin (Dinē), her parents L. Daniel and Claudine Judin Mumaw Morris, as well as her brother, Thomas Mumaw Morris (Dian).  She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Henry I. Barclay, III, son Henry Ingram Barclay, IV, his wife Susan Poplin Barclay and their daughter Margueritte Chandler Barclay; son David Vaughn Barclay, Sr., his wife Michelle Lewis Barclay and their children Chase Alexander Miller, David Vaughn Barclay, Jr., Mackenzie Grace Barclay, William Rixon Barclay and Matthew Thomas Barclay; brothers L. Daniel Morris, Jr. (Melanie), Henry Minard Morris (Cece), and Claude Platt Morris (Janie); nieces and nephews Michelle (Micki) Morris Myers (Tom), Kimberly (Kim) Morris Bailey (Ken), April Brooks Morris Minish (Scott), Leigh Morris Sloane, Hal Morris, Christopher (Chris) Thomas Morris, Courtney Morris Thatcher (James), and Daniel (Dan) Claude Morris (Kim), many great-nieces and nephews as well as the numerous members of her extended family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in the Chapel at the Grants Mill Campus of Church of the Highlands (4700 Highlands Way, Birmingham, AL 35210) at 2 PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m.
