Anita Gay Jones Billingsley

Anita Gay Jones Billingsley, age 87, died on March 10, 2025, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. Anita was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Billy (Bill) Frank Billingsley; parents Wallace Edmund Jones and Valeria Dunnam Jones; sisters Jerri Dickie and Evelyn Hendon.
Survivors include her son, Tim Billingsley (Tracy); granddaughters Meagan Billingsley Deese and Kaylyn Billingsley Dix (Evan); and four wonderful great-grands. Anita is also survived by two very special nieces, Cheree Causey (Jim) and Holly Denneny (Marvin) as well as other nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was born in Jefferson County, Alabama on April 19, 1937. She graduated from Jones Valley High School in 1955. She was married soon after at Brookhaven Methodist Church and moved to Columbiana. She was a licensed dental hygienist and worked for Dr. Alson Dentistry for many years. She finished her working career with the Circuit Clerk’s Office at the Shelby County Courthouse. Her hobbies included playing cards with friends as well as traveling to multiple states and out of the country. Her best memories were spent in The Villages, Florida where she lived for over 20 years.
Anita’s family would like to express sincere thankfulness for the love and care that she received by Premier Assisted Living in Columbiana, New Beacon Hospice and also to Dr. Jason Burrus of Alabaster. Dr. Burrus’ unending care and concern for Anita was sincere and very much appreciated.
A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.
