Amelia Haley Norris

Amelia Haley Norris was born October 18, 1934. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 13, 2025 at Bethany House Hospice in Auburn Alabama at the age of 90.

     She worked for the Dr Pepper company on 2nd Ave., South in Birmingham Alabama for over 25 years, until that office moved locations to St. Louis Missouri. Then she went to work for the Social Security office in Birmingham where she retired after 11 years of service. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Alabaster Alabama.

    She and her husband enjoyed sports and were big Auburn fans they loved traveling many places and enjoyed skiing in Colorado on many occasions. For many years she enjoyed making beautiful cakes for family and friends for weddings and special events.

     Amelia was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and mother-in-law. She was most affectionately known as Granny to her three grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was dearly loved by her family and friends.

    She was proceeded in death by her husband Harold Norris, her daughter Linda Scogin Beale, her brother, Jimmy Haley, and her sisters, Marie Patton and Peggy Vigneulle.  

     She is survived by her daughter, Christie Scogin Brewer (Bill), her three grandchildren, Beth Hamby (Seth), Billy Brewer (Sarah) and Brett Brewer (Eryn). Great grandchildren, Seth, George, Evey, Lane and Hank Hamby, Waits, Elizabeth and Hattie Brewer, Charlotte and Holden Brewer. 

     Funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Amelia will be held at Alabaster first Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 19 at 10 AM. Visitation for family and friends begins at 9:15-10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo Alabama.
