Sarah Mac Northcutt Davenport

(1938-2024)

Sarah Mac Northcutt Davenport, beloved mother, wife, and friend, passed away at the age of 86 on Friday, August 16th, 2024.  She is survived by her sons Steve (wife Jamie) and Bret (wife Paula) Davenport and her daughter Felicia (husband Brad) Miller.  She is survived by many grandchildren:  Tara Davenport, Heath (wife Andrea) Davenport, Haley (husband Hunter) White, Houston (wife Claire) Davenport, Olivia (husband Mitch) Steele, and Sarah Miller.  She is also survived by many great-grandchildren:  Brinley Davenport, Jonah Brock Davenport, Neeley Kate and Ramsey Jane Davenport, Isaiah White, Haegan Davenport, and Jax Steele.  She was preceded in death by her father and mother (Labon and Central Northcutt), brother (Dick Northcutt), husband (Harold Davenport), grandson (Brock Davenport), and great granddaughter, Brailyn Espino.  She will be missed by former daughter-in-law Susie Mattis, her Espino family: Mandee, Poncho, Giovanni, Chito, and Kaiser, and many other friends and family.

Sarah Mac was born on February 27th, 1938.  She graduated from Jemison High School where she was Captain of the Cheerleading Squad.  She was married to Harold Davenport for 52 years until he passed away.  During their marriage, Sarah actively participated in politics by dutifully serving as “First Lady” while Harold was Mayor of Alabaster and then a Shelby County Commissioner.  They were also active members of the First Baptist Church in Alabaster.  In their spare time, they enjoyed dancing the Jitterbug, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.  Sarah was a Christian and loved Jesus, her family, and friends very much.  She was a lot of fun and always made those around her laugh.  She was always singing a happy tune – especially when laying out in the sunshine.  Sarah knew all the words to every old-time gospel and country song.  This past February she honored Willie Nelson by attending his concert in Apopka, FL, and singing every word to “Always on My Mind” with him.

Sarah played a mean game of Rook and Pinochle.  She loved movies like Imitation of Life with Lana Turner, Gone with the Wind, and Grease.  Her absolute favorite color was purple.  She also loved her soap operas and especially the Young and the Restless with the infamous character Victor Newman.

Sarah will be missed but rest assured that she is celebrating in Heaven with her Lord and Savior for the rest of eternity.

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are as follows:  Wednesday, August 21st at Charter Funeral Home with Visitation at 1 PM and Services at 2 PM.  Burial will be at the cemetery next to Elliotsville Presbyterian in Alabaster.

Pallbearers will be Heath Davenport, Houston Davenport, Hunter White, Jonah Brock Davenport, Richard Davenport, Jeremy Davenport, Giovanni Fuerte, and Poncho Espino.
