James Lee Pickett “Buster”

James Lee Pickett (Buster), age 74, of Montevallo, AL (Pea Ridge) passed away on Wednesday February 26, 2025, in the comfort of his own home. Buster was a beloved husband, devoted father and adoring grandfather. He was born on August 30, 1950, to his parents, James and Janice Pickett, both have preceded him in death. Buster is also preceded in death by his brother, Duncan Pickett and granddaughter Kaitlyn Paige Shores. He is survived by his wife Vicki Pickett, three daughters, Kelly Conway (Duck), Ellen Cooley (Janet) and Amy Lash (Wes), as well as his brothers, Larry Pickett (Shirlene-Friend of Larry) and Charlie Pickett (Judy) and sister-in-law, Margaret Pickett. One of his favorite titles was “Poppie” to Baxley Shores (Payton), Connor Shores, Zach Shores, Sarah Kayte Lash, Hunter Cooley, Harper Cooley, Brody Conway and Gracie Conway. Buster is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. He was a faithful and dedicated employee of Specification Rubber Products. He was an avid hunter and fisher and loved spending time in the woods or on the lake. Outside of hunting season, Buster could be found at one of his Grands softball or baseball games.
A Celebration of Life for Buster will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Homeland Way in Montevallo. After the informal celebration, the family invites all family and friends to join them for a potluck dinner and fellowship around the firepits, sharing stories and memories about Buster. (Feel free to bring a dish to share.)
