James H. Brown

James H. Brown known as “Pappy or Brown”, age 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the comfort of his own home, Sunday, May 12, 2024.  He was born on December 25, 1929, to his parents, Tollie Fredrick and Crystal Snyder Brown, both have preceded him in death. James is also preceded by his loving wife, Damie Sue, 3 brothers, and a sister. He is survived by his two sons, Wyman Brown and Greg Brown (Debbie); grandson, Justin Brown (Megan); great grandson, Colton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

James has been a resident of Alabaster Al for 51 years and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. He is a veteran of the US Navy. James enjoyed fishing, photography (especially Cahaba Lillies), watching the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR. He loved to watch all Alabama sports, especially football, women’s softball, and gymnastics.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 in the Charter Funeral Home Chapel in Calera, Al. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am followed by a service at 12:30 pm. He will also have a service on Monday, May 20, 2024 in Collins, MS at Billy King Funeral Home with a visitation from 10 – 11 am. The service will begin at 11 am, followed by a graveside service where James will be laid to rest alongside his wife in Cold Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins, MS.
