Gracie Hamrick “MawMaw”
On Monday July 15th, 2024, Gracie Hamrick “MawMaw” ended her earthly journey surrounded by her family at her home. She was welcomed into heaven by her husband, Buddy Hamrick, her mother, Bertha Simmons, her father, Clarence Simmons, her grandson, Dakota and all of her brothers and sisters.
Left behind to miss her every day is her daughters, Sherry (Dennis) Lawson, and Linda (Rodney) Motes; grandsons, Jake Hosmer and Steven (Ashley) Motes; granddaughter, Staci (Nathan) Reddy; great grandsons, Holden and Colt Reddy; her dog, Oscar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
One thing about Gracie, she was proud of her roots. Born and raised a coal miners daughter, she was proud of the sacrifices her family had made during her childhood and shared her story with everyone who was blessed to know her. Fierce, Kind, Smart, Feisty, Strong, and Loving are the words that are best used to describe Gracie. Known as the community grandmother, MawMaw. Gracie was loved by everyone who was lucky enough to meet her. She had a smile that could light up any room and the kindest of souls. MawMaw loved nothing more than Jesus, her family, Papaw and Oscar. Gracie has left a permanent mark on everyone who knew and loved her. While we are all heartbroken, we have taken comfort in knowing that her and Buddy are walking the streets of gold together again at last.
A visitation will be held in the Charter Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The service will be held the following day at 1:00 p.m. Gracie will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Shelby Memory Gardens.
From the moment I met Ms Gracie I knew she was a special person that loved her family and the Lord. She always made me feel welcome in her home with her kindness and positive spirit. I am blessed to have met her and her sweet family. Our condolences, Pam with SouthernCare
