Edward Frederick Macaya
Mr. Edward Frederick Macaya, resident of Helena, AL, died on August 28, 2023 at the age of 79.
Ed was born in San Jose, Costa Rica on April 24, 1944 to Hernando and Marietta Macaya. He attended Riverside Military Academy and played for their football team. He was raised in Miami, FL where he met the love of his life Sybil. They were happily married for 55 years, had 3 children, and 4 grandchildren.
He was a spiritual man involved in the Catholic Church, and a successful Parts Manager in the heavy duty trucking industry. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and coaching soccer. He also loved working in his workshop, and was a MacGyver that could fix anything.
He was a devoted father and husband who worked very hard to provide for his family. He was always smiling, joking, and making others laugh. Ed will be remembered for his larger than life personality and beautiful heart.
Ed is survived by his wife Sybil; Children Eduardo, Melissa, and Alexander; Grandchildren Alexandra, Tyler, Eduardo, and Alexis; Great Grandchildren Kristian, Jeremiah, and Aiden; Siblings Martha, Maria Elena, and Alfredo; Daughter in Law Alexandra, and Son in Law Brandon.
So sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
