Donald “Don” Curry Wilson
Donald “Don” Curry Wilson, age 76, passed from this walk of life on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 with his family by his side. Don was a proud veteran of the US Army where he served during the Vietnam War. He attended Jacksonville State University where he graduated in 1973, with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Don worked as a mechanical engineer for UPS in Louisville, KY, until he retired to Calera with his family in 2014.
He married his college sweetheart, Patsy in April 1971. During their 51 year marriage they had 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Don leaves a legacy of kindness, generosity and love for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Dorothy Wilson. His surviving relatives are his loving wife, Patsy Wilson of Calera, Alabama; sons, Chris Wilson (Amanda) of Prattville, Alabama and Jeremy Wilson (Kayleen) of Velva North Dakota; daughter, Melissa Windham (Mark) of Calera, Alabama; grandchildren, Piper Wilson, Pierce Wilson, Gracie Windham, Matthew Windham, Tucker Wilson, Brynley Wilson, and Finn Wilson; sister, Becky Jones of Cincinnati, Ohio; a host of nieces and nephews.
Don’s celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Charter Funeral Home with a time for gathering one hour prior to his service. Officiating Don’s service will be Brother Glenn Sutter.
Due to illness, I won’t be able to attend Don’s Celebration of Life as I had planned…whether at 66th Baptist, Centercrest Baptist or even tailgating in Tuscaloosa, Don was a kind soul and I enjoyed our lovely conversations always…my heart goes out to you Patsy and to Chris, Melissa and Jeremy and the rest of your wonderful family…
