Daniel “Danny” Minshew

Daniel Stephen Minshew, age 74 of Montevallo, passed away peacefully at his home on April 22, 2025.
Danny was born on September 6, 1950, in Greenville, South Carolina to the Reverend Pat Minshew and Joyce Minshew.
Danny loved Alabama football, fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing the piano and keyboard. Although he did begin piano lessons at age 9, he was a talented musician who taught himself to play by ear. Many guests who visited the Minshew’ s home were serenaded by the tunes of gospel, rock and roll, and even tunes he wrote himself. Even as his health declined, we would still play his keyboard for his family. He passed his love of music on to his children and grandchildren.
As the oldest son of a Baptist minister, Danny made friends in the towns where his dad pastored and kept close to them throughout the years. He had a special ability to make others laugh. He enjoyed being around others and bringing a smile to their face by telling one of his many jokes or tall tales.
He was retired from Vulcan Threaded Products and Bolt where we worked on specialty products that he uniquely created for their customers.
Danny accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior when he was young but did not make a public profession of his faith until January 17, 1967, when he was 16 years old. He was a faithful servant and served as director of the children’s department, sound technician, deacon, and played the keyboard on special occasions. Danny found comfort in music as a way to offer worship.
Danny is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 51 years, Janet Lucas Minshew, son Mark Minshew (Nicole) of Montevallo, daughters, Kelli Strong of Dennis, MS, Jodi Northcutt (Kevin) of Montevallo, brother, David Minshew of Inverness, and his 11 grandchildren, Juliana (Harley) Goree, Christian Strong, Pasha Strong, Olivia Minshew, Shylah Strong, Jake Northcutt, Adaleigh Strong, Owen Minshew, Josie Northcutt, Joseph Strong, and Evan Northcutt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Pat Minshew and Joyce Minshew, and his nephew, Dave Minshew.
Danny’s home going celebration will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Enon Baptist Church in Montevallo, where Danny has been a member since his dad pastored there in 1969.
The family invites you to a time of visitation from 9:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m. with the service to begin at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Enon Baptist Church bus ministry. Danny was not able to get to enjoy the bus himself but what better legacy to leave behind for others to be able to enjoy the fun, fellowship, and memories the bus ministry provides.
