Melani Lee Joyner

Melani Lee Joyner, age 60, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, surrounded by those who loved and adored her most. Born June 10, 1964, to Dwight and Joyce Joyner, Melani left an undeniable impact on every person she met. She was the definition of a “good and faithful servant,” who loved her Jesus and her people well. Melani had the most genuine and encouraging spirit, always armed with a big hug and a “bless your heart, baby” for those who needed it most.

For over 20 years, Melani touched the lives of many children and their families as a paraprofessional at Linda Nolen Learning Center. Her other titles in life included: daughter, sister, aunt, and friend; however, her most prized titles were mom to her two sons and “Yaya” to her two grandsons. They were the lights of her life, and she always had a picture and funny story ready to share.

The family has no doubt that Melani’s dad, Dwight Joyner, was waiting at the pearly gates to welcome her home. She is survived by her mother, Joyce Joyner; siblings: Kim Guest (Graylon), Dee Horton (Danny), and Shane Joyner (Angela); sons: Matthew Holsomback (Kayla) and Brent Holsomback (Emily); grandsons: Micah Holsomback & Asher Holsomback; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Please join us in celebrating a life very well lived. Visitation will take place Sunday, June 23rd from 2p.m.-3p.m., at Grace Chapel, 64 Wilderness Lane Alabaster, Alabama. A celebration of life service will begin at 3p.m., with a graveside service to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Maylene. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Melani’s memory to a cause she took great pride and passion in: Operation Christmas Child. Donations may be sent to the church address listed above and earmarked for Operation Christmas Child.
