Lucy C. Poe McGiboney

Lucy C. Poe McGiboney, age 81, passed away peacefully in Calera on Monday, February 24, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on February 8, 1944, to her parents, Johnnie and Nellie Poe, both preceded her in passing. She is also preceded by her siblings Durwood Poe, Betty Smith, Carl Poe and John Poe; and In-laws, Chester Smith, Viva Poe, George Ison, James Burnett and Linda Poe. Lucy is survived by her children, Terry McGiboney (Shereen), Jane Hannah (Robert Robertson), Wayne McGiboney, Robert “Monk” McGiboney (Vickie), and Sheila Gothard (Keith Pate); siblings, Janie Ison, Ricky Poe (Carolyn), Elaine Burnett, Johnnie Faye Garner (Wayne) and Larry Poe (Bernadette); sister-in-law, Earlean Poe; 10 grandchildren and 4 great – grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Friday, February 28, 2025, at Charter Funeral Home from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. A service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Charter Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Lucy will be laid to rest in Rock Spring Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Phillips officiating. Charter Funeral Home of Calera directing her services.
