Billie Ruth Burnette

Billie Ruth Burnette, age 91 went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 9, 2024. She was born to Louise Franklin on May 17, 1933 and raised in Crossett, AR by her loving parents, Edward and Beatrice Locke. Billie attended Henderson State Teachers College in Arkansas.  She later went on to advertise for News America for several years. Billie enjoyed gardening and attending live music concerts. She taught Sunday School at Enon Baptist Church, where she has been a member for almost 50 years. Billie was a loving mother and grandmother to all her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Burnette; parents, Edward and Beatrice Locke; sister, Sue Jasper; brother, Ronald Franklin; biological mother, Louise Franklin; grandparents, Oscar Emory (Mamie) and Dr. Edward Locke (Ivalee); and stepson, Douglas Burnette. She is survived by her son, William Switzer (Ruby); daughter, Paula Burnette; grandchildren, Ashley Livers (Paul) and Michael Burnette (Michelle); siblings, Edward Locke (Jane) and Donald Franklin (Jan); daughter in law, Elaine Feese; sister-in-law, Hilda Franklin; brother-in-law, John Jasper; stepson, Chris Burnette; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loved family members.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, at Enon Baptist Church in Montevallo. A visitation will be held at 1 pm followed by a service at 2 pm. She will be laid to rest in the Martin Memorial Cemetery, there will not be a graveside service. In lieu of flowers please donate to Enon Baptist Church.

    My beautiful grandmother. I will forever cherish her and the memories she made with me. I was her angel on earth and she’s now my angel in heaven. I’ll miss her forever
