Billy Eugene Holcomb
Billy Eugene Holcomb was born on September 6, 1939, in Cullman, AL and passed into his eternal life on October 14, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Andrew Holcomb and Alice Cooper Holcomb; his brothers, Charles Holcomb, James Holcomb, and Frank Holcomb; and his sister, Jessie Johnston. He is survived by his two daughters, Melanie Holcomb and Monica Aldama and husband Chris; grandchildren, Austin Aldama, Ally Aldama Denbow and husband Trevor, Brody Phillips and fiancé Aleya Garcia, Hallie Phillips Woods and husband Dawson. He is also survived by brothers, Morris Holcomb and wife Anne, Doug Holcomb, Rick Holcomb and wife Cindy; and sister Mildred Ellison. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and long-time friends.
Billy served in the Air Force for five years after graduating from high school. He grew up in Alabama and moved to Corsicana, TX early in his career in the railroad industry. He traveled extensively with his job until his retirement as Vice President of Operations for Greenbriar Industry.
After moving to Corsicana, Billy became actively involved in the Chamber of Commerce, serving as President and as a member on the economic development committee. He also was on the board of the Corsicana Country Club and served as President.
Billy was an avid golfer enjoying his leisure time with his golfing buddies Paul Hable, Jack Smith, Jack Taylor, Jack Barnett, and Max Worley. He also loved spending time golfing with his grandson, Brody, who shared his love of the golf game.
Graveside services will be held at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will be held in Corsicana, TX at the Corsicana Country Club on a date to be announced in the coming weeks. Pallbearers are Rick Holcomb, Ty Ellison, Shane Holcomb, Chris Aldama, Matt Lawley, and Dawson Woods. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Davis and Brad Killingsworth.
