Ruth Evelyn True Davis

Ruth Evelyn True Davis, of Pelham, Alabama, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 6, 2017. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Bradley Robert Davis, and her stepfather, Joe E. Johnson. She is survived by her children, Stephen Davis (Allison), Andrea Davis Gaydon (Jason), and Caroline Davis Van Dora (Jeremiah); and her precious grandchildren, Brooke Ann Davis (Stephen), John Bradley Gaydon (Andrea), Clara Ruth Anastasia Van Dora and Evelyn True Van Dora (Caroline). She is also survived by her parents, Betty C. Johnson, and Charles W. True (Daniese); and her siblings, Charles True, Mitzi Marshall, Keith Foster, Lois Ann Brueck, Mike Johnson, and Joe Johnson II; and her in laws, Dr. and Mrs. Robert M. Davis and their daughter Cindy VanHoose(Gary). Ruth was raised in Georgetown, Kentucky, where she graduated from Scott County High School in 1974. She was an art major and Gamma Phi Beta at Auburn University. She raised her three children in Birmingham, Alabama, where she was involved in the arts and craft show community. Most knew her as “The Angel Lady”, because of her signature clay pieces. She was a faithful member of Liberty Church for 28 years, where her passion for missions and giving to others flourished. Ruth was a classic southern woman. She had a tenacious spirit and the sweetest smile. She leaves behind her, a legacy of love, faith, family and sheer determination. A celebration of Ruth’s incredible life will be held, Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Liberty Church in Birmingham, Alabama. There will be a visitation at 10am, followed by the service at 11am. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Liberty Church Missions, 2732 Old Rocky Ridge Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35216.
